We celebrated my wife's birthday with a wonderful dinner out. The restaurant easily set up a comfortable and spacious area for our group of six. Our server, realizing it was a birthday, surprised us with some special treats and drinks, which really made the celebration feel unique. Beyond that, all of our ordered meals were delicious, and the side dishes looked perfectly presented. The weekend-exclusive galbitang was a true highlight—so flavorful and generously portioned!

Dookbaeki is a hidden gem in the south, offering an authentic Korean dining experience. It’s tucked away in a convenient location with ample parking, and the interior is spacious and well-organized, making it a comfortable place to enjoy a meal. The service here is outstanding—the staff are friendly, attentive, and very accommodating. Everything about this place feels genuinely Korean, from the atmosphere to the food itself. We’ve tried the Oyster Soontubu, Sogogi Dolsot Bibimbap, and Donkatsu, and each dish was unique and absolutely delicious. I’ve never had anything quite like them before! The portions are generous for the price, making it a great value. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more from the menu. Highly recommended!

Delicious traditional Korean food is served here as well as the other location inside WEM. It’s a Monday morning with busy lunch rush. Only one server on the floor but she handled very well and great with multi tasking. The frozen yogurt after paid was a simple treat. Much appreciated. Would be back soon

Everything about this place feels authentic, from the atmosphere to the food itself. Short ribs were tender and juicy, with just the right balance of sweetness and char. The staff was super friendly and attentive, happy to walk us through the menu and even gave us tips on how to enjoy everything Korean-style. The vibe was cozy and traditional, perfect for a casual night out or even a low-key date. Honestly, I wanted to try everything on the menu. Highly, highly recommended!

Dinner time ... Delicious food. The soups were full of yummy ingredients. I ordered "mild" for spice level, which for me was just right. (This level is about the average spicy level at similar restaurants.) The soup broths here were delicious, and they still had a very flavourful soup bone taste. The side dishes of kimchi, bean sprouts, and pickled radish were very tasty. Freshly made and fluffy steamed rice; good portion sizes; average prices; good service; clean environment.

A great place to go for Korean soup cravings. They have both spicy and non spicy options and the portions are always generous and well priced. Have been coming here for years whenever I am in the south of Edmonton and they have always been consistently good with the flavours and service. Lots of free parking available make this place easy to visit.

I had a wonderful experience at Dookbaeki! The staff were incredibly kind, attentive, and welcoming. They made us feel comfortable from the moment we walked in and were always quick to respond to any requests. Their warm hospitality truly enhanced our meal. There were various Korean decorations inside, and the wooden decor created a unique historical atmosphere. The menu was available in both Korean and English. We ordered Suk-Uh Soontubu, a Korean spicy soft tofu stew served with rice. This dish included plenty of beef chuck eye roll, squid, shrimp, mushrooms, zucchini, onion and scallions. The soft tofu was particularly smooth, even better than the other ingredients. The broth had great flavor, it was savory and not too intense. However, the spiciness was a bit strong for us at the regular spicy level, so we might choose mild next time. Sogogi Dolsot Bibimbap came in a hot stone bowl filled with rice, topped with colorful vegetables like radish, carrots, bean sprouts, mushrooms and zucchini, along with a generous portion of beef and a pan-fried egg with sesame seeds. It looked very appealing, and they also provided a bottle of Korean hot pepper paste for mixing. The flavor was mildly spicy with a hint of crispy rice. The stone bowl stayed warm throughout the meal, which was comforting on a cold day. They were served with side dishes, including pickled spicy radish, bean sprouts and fresh kimchi that day. Additionally, we ordered a small size of Soondae, described on the menu as housemade Korean style blood sausage. The casing was soft and slightly bouncy, filled with Korean glass noodles mixed with pork blood and assorted vegetables like carrots. It was flavorful and delicious. They even gave us two mini bottles of Korean Yakult after the meal, which were sweet and tangy. I thought they were good for digestion and brought back some childhood memories (But it is too sweet if people have it too often). I appreciated the care they put into their food. The staff were great, making for a positive experience.
